Pattachitras

This art form is believed to have originated as early as the 12th century and is one of the oldest and most famous living art forms. The Pattachitra artists also known as the chitrakars, predominantly make icon paintings based on the Hindu mythology. The art form is painted on specially formatted cloth (called canvas) using pure natural colors (Red from the shingle stone, Yellow from haritala stone, White from crushed, boiled, and filtered shells and Black is prepared out of lampblack).

RaghurajPur, Puri, Odisha is the birthplace of Pattachitra art and is designated as Heritage Crafts Village of Odisha. All our  art collections are prepared by the original artisans (Few are Presidents award winner) based in RaghurajPur.
